The Pao pendant light is part of Naoto Fukasawa's stunning Pao lighting collection for HAY. Inspired by the soft, glowing shape of traditional Mongolian Pao tents illuminated at night, the pendant encapsulates the same inviting atmospheric warmth. By drawing on elegant simplicity and modest aesthetics, Fukasawa has created a pendant that strikes harmony with any environment it illuminates. A custom LED light source and diffuser are concealed within the acrylic (PMMA) diffuser, providing both a soft, diffused glow and a clean design. The steel shade is also coated with a high-gloss finish to further enhance the sleek simplicity of this modern pendant. Functional and phenomenally versatile, the Pao pendant light is ideally suspended low over your dining table or kitchen island for cool, stylish design and exquisite illumination. Available in three sizes and four rich colours. Designed by Naoto Fukasawa. Manufactured by HAY. The Pao collection of lamps is an exciting collaboration with established Japanese designer Naoto Fukasawa. Named after the soft, glowing shape of traditional Mongolian Pao tents illuminated at night-time, Fukasawa set out to encapsulate the same atmospheric warmth and friendliness in the Pao Steel Pendant. Pao draws on Fukasawa’s aesthetic of beautiful simplicity; creating an everyday object that draws on design values existing in the natural world. By keeping the aesthetics modest and simple, he brings the design into harmony with its environment, reinforcing his primary intention of making the atmosphere pleasant and comfortable. Thanks to developments in the latest LED-bulb technology, the light source can be concealed from view within the shade, which is closed off with high-quality Acrylic (PMMA) diffuser, resulting in a clean and simple design with no visual intrusions.
