The Merrell Nova 4 in Brown is designed for adult male outdoor enthusiasts who need a reliable transition shoe that performs on rugged trails while maintaining a clean aesthetic for casual wear. This trail-ready shoe combines a waterproof membrane with lightweight cushioning for long-distance comfort, though users should note it is optimized primarily for varied trail conditions rather than technical mountaineering.

The UK 10 size generally fits standard sizing for adult males, though wearing thicker hiking socks may require a slight adjustment in your preference.
While the Nova 4 is built for trail performance, the cushioning is comfortable enough for road transitions, though the tread pattern will wear faster on abrasive asphalt.
Use a soft-bristled brush and mild soap to gently scrub the mesh, then rinse and air dry.
They provide good protection, but they are not insulated, so they are best paired with warm wool socks for colder temperatures.
Yes, the provided 50% recycled EVA foam footbed is removable, making it easy to swap in custom orthotic inserts.
Ensure your socks are moisture-wicking and not cotton, as internal humidity can build up during high-intensity activity.
Remove the EVA footbed and brush off any compressed dirt, or consider replacing it with an aftermarket insert if the foam has fully collapsed.
Ensure the 100% recycled laces are pulled through the eyelets fully, and consider using a double knot if traversing particularly brushy terrain.
To ensure your Merrell Nova 4 maintains its performance, avoid machine washing; instead, wipe down the exterior with a damp cloth after muddy excursions to prevent debris buildup. For the interior, remove the EVA footbed and air-dry the shoes in a shaded, well-ventilated area away from direct heat sources, which can damage the waterproof membrane. Ensure your laces are tensioned evenly across the instep for a secure fit, and check the outsole lugs periodically for trapped stones that could interfere with grip.
