Setup, Compatibility & Care
To ensure the best results and maximize the life of your Ronseal Garden Paint, proper preparation, application, and care are essential.
Setup & Application
- Surface Preparation: Ensure the surface is clean, dry, and free from loose dirt, flaking paint, grease, or mould. For previously painted or varnished surfaces, lightly sand to create a key and wipe clean. For bare wood, ensure it's sound and dry. For metal, clean off any rust and prime if necessary for optimal adhesion. For brick, ensure it's dry and free of loose mortar or dust.
- Stirring: Thoroughly stir the paint before and periodically during use to ensure the colour is consistent.
- Application: Apply with a brush. For best results, apply two coats. Allow sufficient drying time between coats (Info needed: specific drying time between coats).
- Temperature: Apply in dry conditions, ideally when temperatures are between `10°C` and `30°C`.
Compatibility
Ronseal Garden Paint is highly versatile and compatible with:
- Wood: Fences, sheds, garden furniture, decking frames (not recommended for decking treads due to slip risk).
- Metal: Planters, railings, gates, garden ornaments.
- Brick: Walls, borders, decorative features.
- Terracotta/Ceramic: Pots, ornaments.
Care & Maintenance
- Cleaning: Painted surfaces can be gently wiped clean with a damp cloth if they become dirty. Avoid harsh abrasive cleaners.
- Reapplication: While providing long-lasting protection, periodic inspection of painted surfaces is recommended. Reapply a fresh coat when signs of wear or fading become apparent to maintain protection and vibrancy.
