Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup
Setting up your AirPods Max is remarkably simple, especially within the Apple ecosystem:
- Charge: Before first use, ensure your AirPods Max are sufficiently charged using the included USB-C cable.
- Pairing: Bring your AirPods Max, housed in their Smart Case, near your unlocked iPhone or iPad. A setup animation will appear on your device's screen.
- Connect: Tap `Connect` on your screen. If you have multiple Apple devices (like an iPhone, iPad, and Mac) signed in with the same Apple ID, your AirPods Max will automatically set up with all of them.
- Fit: Adjust the telescopic arms to find a comfortable and secure fit. The ear cushions are magnetic and can be easily removed if needed.
Compatibility
- Apple Devices: AirPods Max are fully compatible with iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, Apple TV, and iPod touch models running the latest software versions. You'll experience features like automatic switching, Spatial Audio, and Siri integration.
- Other Devices: While AirPods Max can connect to non-Apple devices via Bluetooth, advanced features such as Spatial Audio, automatic switching, and seamless pairing may not be available.
Care
Proper care helps maintain the performance and longevity of your AirPods Max:
- Cleaning: Gently wipe the ear cushions and canopy with a soft, slightly damp, lint-free cloth. Do not immerse them in water or use harsh cleaning agents. The ear cushions are magnetically attached and can be removed for easier cleaning or replacement.
- Storage: Always store your AirPods Max in the Smart Case when not in use. This protects them from scratches and puts them into an ultra-low power state to preserve battery life, though it does not fully power them off.
- Charging: Use the provided USB-C cable for charging. Avoid exposing the charging port to moisture or debris.
- Moisture: AirPods Max are not waterproof or water-resistant. Avoid exposing them to excessive moisture, rain, or sweat.
