Setup, Compatibility & Care
Surface Preparation
- Cleaning: Ensure the surface is clean, dry, and free from loose paint, grease, or contaminants. Wash the walls with warm, soapy water to remove any dirt or grime.
- Priming: For best results, especially on previously painted surfaces or new plaster, apply a suitable primer. This will improve adhesion and ensure a more uniform finish.
- Filling: Fill any cracks or holes with a suitable filler and sand smooth once dry.
Application
- Stirring: Stir the paint thoroughly before use to ensure even colour distribution.
- Application Method: Apply the paint using a brush, roller, or paint sprayer. Two coats are generally recommended for optimal coverage and durability.
- Drying Time: Allow the paint to dry completely between coats, usually 2-4 hours, depending on environmental conditions.
Compatibility
Johnstone's Washable Matt Paint is compatible with most standard primers and fillers. Always check the primer manufacturer's instructions for compatibility.
Care
To clean the painted surface, use a soft, damp cloth and mild soapy water. Avoid using abrasive cleaners or scrubbing excessively, as this may damage the paint finish. For stubborn marks, test the cleaning method in an inconspicuous area first.
