Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup:
- Hardware Connection: Connect the WAN ports to your internet service provider (ISP) equipment and the LAN ports to your internal network switches or devices. Connect the power adapter to a power source.
- Web Interface Access: Connect a computer to one of the LAN ports and access the router’s web interface by entering its IP address (usually 192.168.1.1) in a web browser.
- Initial Configuration: Follow the setup wizard or manually configure the WAN settings (connection type, IP address), LAN settings (IP range, DHCP), and security settings (firewall, VPN). Detailed configuration is best done following the official DrayTek documentation.
Compatibility:
The Vigor 3912 is compatible with most internet service providers that use Ethernet connections. The device supports various WAN connection types, including PPPoE and static IP. Ensure the router's firmware is up to date for optimal performance and security. It is compatible with VigorACS for remote management.
Care:
- Ventilation: Ensure adequate ventilation around the router to prevent overheating. The device has a built-in fan.
- Firmware Updates: Regularly update the firmware to address security vulnerabilities and improve performance.
- Backup Configuration: Back up the router’s configuration settings regularly to easily restore settings in case of a hardware failure or misconfiguration.
- Physical Protection: Protect the router from extreme temperatures and moisture.
