Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup
Getting started with your Karrimor Mount Mid Walking Boots is straightforward.
- Lacing: Utilize the over lace system to ensure a snug yet comfortable fit. Begin lacing from the bottom, pulling firmly but not too tightly through each eyelet. Once at the ankle, use the hooks to provide additional support. Experiment with lacing tension to find what feels best for your foot shape and activity.
- Socks: Always wear appropriate hiking socks. Moisture-wicking socks are recommended to enhance the boot's breathability and prevent blisters.
- Break-in Period: While comfortable out of the box, allow for a short break-in period. Wear the boots for shorter walks initially to allow them to conform to your feet before embarking on longer hikes.
Compatibility
These boots are primarily designed for:
- Walking and Hiking: Suitable for a wide range of trails, from maintained paths to moderately rugged terrain.
- All Weather Conditions: The Weathertite membrane makes them ideal for both wet and dry environments.
- Varied Terrains: The Dynagrip sole is engineered for grip on mud, loose gravel, and uneven surfaces.
Care
Proper care will extend the lifespan and maintain the performance of your Karrimor walking boots:
- Cleaning: After each use, especially if muddy, clean the boots. Remove loose dirt with a soft brush. For the suede upper, use a specialized suede brush and cleaner. Avoid harsh detergents.
- Drying: Allow boots to air dry naturally at room temperature. Avoid direct heat sources like radiators or hairdry, as this can damage the leather and adhesives and compromise the waterproof membrane.
- Waterproofing Maintenance: Over time, the outer water-repellent treatment (DWR) may wear off. Periodically apply a suitable reproofing treatment designed for suede and waterproof membranes to maintain the boot's water resistance and breathability. Follow the product's instructions carefully.
- Storage: Store boots in a cool, dry, well-ventilated place, away from direct sunlight. If possible, stuff them with newspaper to help absorb moisture and maintain their shape.
