Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup
Setting up your ASICS Gel-Excite 11 shoes is straightforward:
- Lace Adjustment: Upon first wear, untie the laces fully and then re-lace them, ensuring a snug but comfortable fit. Experiment with different lacing techniques if you have specific fit preferences (e.g., heel lock lacing for slippage).
- Break-in Period: While comfortable from the start, allow for a short break-in period, typically a few light walks or runs, for the shoes to fully conform to your feet.
- Socks: Wear appropriate running or athletic socks to maximize comfort, moisture-wicking, and prevent blisters.
Compatibility
The Gel-Excite 11 is highly compatible with a variety of uses:
- Running: Ideal for daily recreational running on roads or treadmills.
- Gym Activities: Suitable for various gym workouts, including cardio, light weightlifting, and machine use.
- Casual Wear: Its comfortable design makes it excellent for everyday walking, errands, and general casual use.
- Surfaces: Best suited for hard, even surfaces like pavement, tracks, and gym floors.
Care & Maintenance
Proper care will extend the life and performance of your shoes:
- Remove excess dirt with a soft brush (e.g., old toothbrush) or damp cloth.
- For deeper cleaning, mix a small amount of mild soap with lukewarm water.
- Gently scrub the upper with a soft brush or cloth dipped in the solution.
- Wipe clean with a damp cloth to remove soap residue.
- Do NOT machine wash or machine dry, as this can damage materials and adhesives.
- Drying:
- Allow shoes to air dry naturally at room temperature, away from direct sunlight or heat sources (like radiators), which can cause material degradation.
- You can stuff them with newspaper or paper towels to absorb moisture and help maintain their shape.
- Storage: Store your shoes in a cool, dry place away from extreme temperatures.
- Rotation: If you run frequently, consider rotating between two pairs of shoes to allow the cushioning to fully decompress and extend their lifespan.
- Insoles: The ORTHOLITE sockliner can be removed for cleaning or airing out, or if you prefer to use custom orthotics.
