The Blackfriar Stabilising Solution is designed for professional decorators and DIY enthusiasts looking to prepare challenging, powdery substrates before finishing. Its primary benefit is its deep-penetrating formulation that binds loose particles to create a stable, sound surface for paint or wall coverings. While it is highly effective at stopping dusting on materials like limewash and weathered paint, it is important to note that it is not intended for use as a standalone decorative finish.

No, this product is designed for porous surfaces. It will not penetrate non-porous surfaces like gloss paint.
Allow the surface to dry completely, typically 2 to 4 hours depending on porosity and ambient conditions.
No, this solution is specifically intended for masonry, plaster, and related porous building materials.
The solution dries clear, though it may leave a slight sheen on very dense surfaces if applied too heavily.
No, you must ensure the surface is dry to allow for proper penetration and bonding.
Highly porous surfaces may require a second application. Ensure the first coat has dried completely before reapplying.
Check that the ambient temperature is above 10 degrees Celsius and that there is adequate airflow; high humidity can significantly extend drying times.
To prepare the surface, remove all loose dirt, moss, or extreme flaking material using a stiff brush. Do not use over smooth, non-absorbent surfaces where the product cannot penetrate. Apply the solution liberally using a brush or roller, working it well into the substrate. Once applied, allow it to dry thoroughly before proceeding with decorative coatings. Cleanup should be performed using white spirit or a proprietary brush cleaner. Store the container in a cool, dry place and ensure the lid is sealed tightly after each use to prevent solvent evaporation.
