FAQs
Are the ASICS NOVABLAST 5 TR suitable for marathon running?
While the FF BLAST™ PLUS ECO cushioning provides excellent energy return, the NOVABLAST 5 TR is primarily designed for short to medium distances. For marathon distances, especially on trails, you might prefer a shoe with more robust cushioning and protection.
Can I use these shoes on rocky or highly technical trails?
The AHAR™ LO outsole offers good grip on varied surfaces, but these shoes are best suited for light to moderate trails. Highly technical terrain with large rocks or roots might require a shoe with a more aggressive tread pattern and enhanced protection.
How do I clean my NOVABLAST 5 TR shoes?
We recommend cleaning the shoes with a damp cloth and a mild soap solution. Avoid using harsh chemicals or machine washing, and always allow them to air dry naturally.
What is the main difference between the NOVABLAST 5 and the NOVABLAST 5 TR?
The 'TR' designation stands for 'Trail Responsive'. The NOVABLAST 5 TR features a more durable AHAR™ LO outsole with enhanced grip suitable for trails, alongside the same responsive FF BLAST™ PLUS ECO cushioning found in the standard NOVABLAST 5.
Is this shoe suitable for runners with a neutral foot strike?
Yes, the ASICS NOVABLAST 5 TR is specifically designed for runners with a neutral stride.
What does the '8 mm drop' mean?
The drop refers to the height difference between the heel and the forefoot. An 8 mm drop indicates a moderate heel-to-toe transition, common in many running shoes, facilitating a balanced stride.
Are these shoes made with sustainable materials?
Yes, the upper of the ASICS NOVABLAST 5 TR is made with at least 75% recycled materials, reflecting a commitment to sustainability.
Troubleshooting
Reduced grip on trails
Clean the AHAR™ LO outsole thoroughly to remove mud, dirt, or debris that may be hindering traction.
Foot feels unstable on uneven terrain
Ensure laces are tied securely, utilizing the tongue wing construction. For persistent instability, consider if the terrain is too technical for this shoe's design.
Upper feels too loose or tight
Adjust the lacing pattern to achieve a secure, comfortable fit. The technical jacquard mesh is designed to be stretchy, so a snug but not constricting fit is ideal.
Cushioning feels too firm
The FF BLAST™ PLUS ECO foam may require a short break-in period. Gradually increase mileage to allow the foam to adapt to your stride.
