Setup, Compatibility & Care
Proper setup and care will ensure the longevity and effective performance of your Regatta Puddle IV Waterproof Puddle Suit.
Setup & Wearing
- Choose the Right Size: The suit is designed for children aged `2-3 Years`. Consider your child's current clothing size and build. Allow for a small amount of room for layering clothes underneath, but avoid overly large sizes which can restrict movement or allow water ingress.
- Layer Appropriately: On colder days, dress your child in warm, non-bulky layers (e.g., fleece, thermal wear) underneath the suit. On milder but wet days, lighter clothing will suffice, relying on the suit's breathability.
- Donning the Suit: Guide your child's legs into the suit first, then arms. The front zip allows for easy entry. Ensure the zip is fully closed to maintain waterproof integrity.
- Hood Adjustment: The grown-on hood is designed to fit snugly. Ensure it's not obstructing your child's vision.
Compatibility
- Clothing: Designed to be worn over everyday clothing, including trousers, jumpers, and even lighter jackets.
- Footwear: Best paired with waterproof wellington boots to ensure complete protection against puddles and mud. Elasticated cuffs can sit over boot tops or tuck inside.
- Activities: Ideal for a wide range of outdoor activities including walking, cycling, playing in the park, gardening, and forest school.
Care Instructions
To maintain the waterproof and breathable properties, follow these care guidelines:
- Cleaning: After use, wipe down any mud or dirt with a damp cloth. For a more thorough clean, machine wash at 30°C on a gentle cycle with a technical wash (e.g., for waterproof garments) or a small amount of non-biological liquid detergent.
- Avoid: Do not use fabric softeners, bleach, or biological detergents, as these can compromise the waterproof and breathable coatings.
- Drying: Hang to dry naturally away from direct heat. Do not tumble dry, as high heat can damage the fabric's waterproof membrane and DWR finish.
- DWR Re-treatment: Over time, the durable water repellent (DWR) finish may wear off. If water stops beading on the surface, you can restore it using a wash-in or spray-on DWR re-proofer designed for technical outerwear.
- Storage: Store in a dry, well-ventilated area.
