Product Information

Full details

The Freefoam Two Part External Corner Trim (MPN: FC304E3MG) is designed for contractors and DIY enthusiasts who require a professional-grade finish for exterior cladding installations. Its primary benefit is the simplified two-part mechanical system that hides fixings and allows for faster board alignment; however, users should ensure the base section is perfectly plumb during the initial installation phase to avoid alignment issues with the outer cap.

FAQs

Is this trim compatible with other brands of cladding?

This trim is specifically engineered for Freefoam cladding systems and is optimized for their dimensions.

Can the snap-on cap be painted?

While the Misty Grey finish is designed to be permanent, we recommend against painting as it may affect the fit of the snap-on mechanism.

What tools are needed for installation?

Standard carpentry tools including a saw for cutting the profile, a drill for fixing the base, and a spirit level for accurate alignment.

Is this product suitable for coastal environments?

Yes, it is designed for exterior use and is highly resistant to weather and environmental degradation.

How do I cut the trim to size?

Use a fine-toothed saw to ensure a clean, smooth cut that won't splinter the edges of the plastic profile.

Troubleshooting

Outer cap does not snap into place

Check for debris or cladding board overhang that may be obstructing the track; ensure the base section is not bowed or misaligned.

Visible gaps between cladding and trim

Ensure that the cladding boards were measured precisely to reach the base section flange before the cap was applied.

Pros and Cons

Pros

Snap-fit design enables a faster, cleaner installation process
Provides a professional, seamless aesthetic without visible screw heads
Highly durable material suitable for exterior weatherproofing
Color-matched in Misty Grey for consistent design integration

Cons

Requires precise initial positioning of the base component
Not intended for non-Freefoam specific cladding systems
The snap-on cap may be difficult to remove if incorrectly seated

Setup, Compatibility & Care

To install, first ensure the supporting framework is level. Secure the base section of the corner trim using appropriate exterior-grade fixings. Align your cladding boards to the edge of the base profile, ensuring the necessary expansion gaps are maintained. Once all boarding is secured, align the snap-on cover with the base profile and apply firm, even pressure along the length until it clicks into place. For care, this product is low-maintenance; it should be cleaned periodically with a soft cloth and mild soapy water to remove surface dirt and maintain the Misty Grey aesthetic. Avoid using abrasive cleaning pads or solvent-based cleaners which may damage the surface finish.
