Setup, Compatibility & Care Instructions
Setup
Getting started with your ASICS Gel-Contend 9 shoes is straightforward. Simply ensure you have the correct size for a comfortable fit. Lace them up securely, ensuring they are snug but not too tight, and adjust the lacing to your personal preference for optimal support.
Compatibility
- Foot Type: These shoes are specifically designed for neutral runners and underpronators. This means they are best suited for individuals whose feet do not roll excessively inward (pronate) or outward (supinate) during their stride.
- Arch Type: Ideal for those with normal to high arches.
- Incompatible With: Runners requiring significant motion control or stability features due to severe overpronation will likely find these shoes lack adequate support.
Care
Proper care will extend the life and maintain the performance of your ASICS Gel-Contend 9 shoes:
- Cleaning:
- Hand Wash Only: Do not machine wash. Use a soft brush or cloth with mild soap (like dish soap) and cold water to gently clean the upper and outsole.
- Avoid Harsh Chemicals: Do not use bleach or strong detergents, as these can damage materials.
- Air Dry: After cleaning, remove the sockliner and stuff the shoes with paper towels to absorb moisture and help maintain their shape. Allow them to air dry completely at room temperature, away from direct sunlight or heat sources (like radiators), which can warp materials.
- Storage: Store your shoes in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight when not in use.
- Odor Control: If odors develop, remove the sockliners and allow them to air out. You can also use shoe deodorizers or sprinkle baking soda inside the shoes.
- Lifespan: Running shoes generally last between 300-500 miles. Monitor the cushioning and outsole wear; if the cushioning feels flat or the outsole tread is significantly worn, it's time for a replacement.
