Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup
- Unpack: Remove shoes from packaging.
- Adjust Quicklace: Slide the Quicklace clip down to tighten the laces. To loosen, press the button on the clip and slide it up. Tuck any excess lace into the lace pocket on the tongue to prevent snagging.
- Break-in: While often comfortable from the start, allow for a short break-in period, especially for longer walks, to ensure the shoe molds to your foot.
Compatibility
- Age Group: Designed for adults.
- Activities: Ideal for city conditions, light trail walking, casual hiking, and everyday wear where weather protection and stability are desired.
- Terrain: Excels on varied surfaces including concrete, gravel, mud, and light trails.
Care Instructions
Proper care will extend the life and performance of your XT-6 GORE-TEX shoes:
- Cleaning: Remove loose dirt with a soft brush (e.g., old toothbrush). For stubborn dirt, use a damp cloth and mild soap. Do not use harsh detergents or bleach, as they can damage the GORE-TEX membrane and materials.
- Rinsing: Rinse with clean, lukewarm water.
- Drying: Air dry naturally at room temperature. Do not expose to direct heat (e.g., radiators, direct sunlight, tumble dryer) as this can damage materials and adhesives. Stuffing with newspaper can help absorb moisture and maintain shape.
- Storage: Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
- Water Repellency (DWR): Over time, the outer fabric's Durable Water Repellent (DWR) treatment may wear off. If water starts to soak into the outer fabric instead of beading up, clean the shoes and re-apply a DWR treatment specifically designed for footwear with GORE-TEX (available at outdoor retailers).
