Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup
Using your Lacoste Lerond Pro Leather Trainers is straightforward:
- Unpack: Remove trainers from their packaging.
- Lacing: Adjust laces for a snug, comfortable fit. Ensure they are not too tight to prevent pressure points.
- Break-in Period: While designed for comfort, a short break-in period may be beneficial for the leather to conform to your foot shape. Wear them for shorter periods initially.
Compatibility
These trainers are designed for adult males and are highly versatile for everyday use. Their classic black leather aesthetic pairs well with:
- Casual wear: Jeans, chinos, shorts.
- Smart-casual attire: Dark trousers, casual shirts, blazers.
They are ideal for walking, social events, and daily errands but are not suited for strenuous athletic activities or harsh weather conditions.
Care
Proper care will significantly extend the life and appearance of your leather trainers:
- Regular Cleaning: Wipe down the leather upper with a soft, damp cloth to remove surface dirt after each wear. For tougher grime, use a specialized leather cleaner applied with a soft brush or cloth. Follow product instructions carefully.
- Conditioning: Apply a leather conditioner every few weeks or months (depending on frequency of use) to keep the leather supple and prevent cracking.
- Protection: Apply a leather protector spray to guard against water and stains, especially before first wear. Reapply periodically.
- Drying: If trainers get wet, stuff them with newspaper to absorb moisture and maintain their shape. Air dry them away from direct heat sources (like radiators or sunlight), which can dry out and crack the leather.
- Storage: Store in a cool, dry place, ideally with shoe trees to maintain shape.
- Insole Care: Ortholite insoles can generally be removed and hand-washed with mild soap and water if needed. Allow them to air dry completely before placing them back in the trainers.
