Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup
Getting started with your ASICS Gel-Contend 9 shoes is straightforward. Simply ensure you have chosen the correct size for optimal comfort and performance. When trying them on, make sure there is about a thumb's width of space between your longest toe and the end of the shoe.
- Lacing: Lace them up securely, but not too tightly, to allow for natural foot expansion during your run. You may experiment with different lacing techniques to find what feels most comfortable.
Compatibility
- Runner Type: These shoes are best suited for neutral runners and underpronators (supinators). This means individuals whose feet do not roll inward excessively (overpronate) or roll outward excessively (supinate) during their gait cycle.
- Arch Type: Ideal for those with normal to high arches.
- Usage: Perfect for daily training runs, moderate distances, walking, and general fitness activities. Not designed as a racing flat or for severe off-road trail running.
Care Instructions
Proper care will extend the life and maintain the performance of your ASICS Gel-Contend 9 shoes:
- Cleaning: Gently remove dirt with a soft brush or damp cloth. For tougher stains, use a mild soap or shoe cleaner diluted in water. Avoid harsh detergents or bleach.
- Drying: Always air dry your shoes at room temperature. Do not place them in direct sunlight, on a radiator, or in a tumble dryer, as extreme heat can damage materials and adhesives.
- Storage: Store your shoes in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight when not in use. You can loosely stuff them with newspaper to help absorb moisture and maintain their shape.
- Avoid Machine Washing: Machine washing can damage the shoe's structure, cushioning, and adhesives, significantly shortening its lifespan.
- Rotation: If you run frequently, consider rotating between two pairs of shoes. This allows the cushioning to fully decompress and recover between runs, extending the life of each pair.
