These Forgefix Flat Penny washers have a 25mm outside diameter and are bright zinc plated for increased corrosion resistance. They are commonly referred to as 'Penny Washers' due to their size resembling an old penny. Washers provide a smooth surface for the nut or bolt to bear against, reducing the likelihood of loosening caused by an uneven fastening surface. Their primary function is to distribute the load under a bolt head or nut face across various bolting applications. They are compatible with all types of bolts and nuts. The zinc coating offers protection against oxidation, creating a durable finish by forming a barrier and acting as a sacrificial anode if the barrier is compromised. Zinc oxide forms a fine white dust, which, unlike iron oxide, does not lead to rust.
