Setup, Compatibility & Care Instructions
Proper application, understanding compatibility, and basic care will ensure you get the best performance and longevity from your CT1 Adhesive & Sealant.
Setup
- Surface Preparation: Ensure surfaces are clean, free from dust, grease, oil, and loose materials. While CT1 works in wet conditions, for optimal bonding strength, dry surfaces are always preferred where possible. For extremely porous surfaces, a primer may enhance adhesion.
- Cut Nozzle: Cut the nozzle at a 45-degree angle to the desired bead size. Ensure the opening is appropriate for the gap or joint you intend to seal or bond.
- Load into Gun: Place the CT1 cartridge into a standard caulking gun.
- Application: Apply the sealant with a consistent pressure, pushing the bead ahead of the nozzle for a smooth, even application. For bonding, apply in beads or dots, then bring the surfaces together firmly.
- Tooling/Smoothing: Immediately after application, tool or smooth the bead with a wetted tool or finger to achieve the desired finish. Clean any excess sealant while it is still wet.
Compatibility
- Materials: CT1 offers unique adhesion on virtually any material, including: wood, MDF, plasterboard, glass, mirrors, stone, concrete, natural stone (non-staining), bricks, tiles, metals (aluminum, steel, lead, copper), most plastics (PVC, ABS), fiberglass, and more.
- Environments: Fully compatible with fresh and salt water environments. Designed for both interior and exterior use.
- Overpainting: Compatible with most paint types. Always perform a patch test in an inconspicuous area with your chosen paint to check for adhesion and appearance.
Care
- Storage: Store CT1 in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures, to maximize shelf life.
- Tool Cleaning: Clean tools and remove any uncured excess sealant immediately after use with a suitable cleaner (e.g., CT1 Multisolve or white spirit). Cured CT1 can only be removed mechanically.
- Disposal: Dispose of empty cartridges and waste material according to local regulations. Cured CT1 is inert.
