Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup
The North Face Nuptse Jacket Junior requires no special setup. Simply unpackage the jacket and it's ready to wear. For optimal puffiness and warmth retention, allow the jacket to hang for a short period after unpacking if it has been compressed.
Compatibility
- Age Group: Designed specifically for juniors. Refer to sizing guides provided by the retailer for the best fit for your child's age and measurements.
- Layering: The boxy fit is conducive to layering. For colder conditions, wear over a base layer and mid-layer for maximum warmth.
- Activities: Suitable for various activities including daily wear, school, outdoor play, walking, and light hiking in cold conditions.
Care
Proper care is essential to maintain the jacket's warmth and longevity.
- Machine Washing: The jacket is machine washable. Use a front-loading washing machine (top-loaders with agitators can damage down).
- Detergent: Use a mild detergent specifically designed for down or technical outerwear, or a small amount of regular mild detergent. Avoid fabric softeners.
- Wash Cycle: Wash on a gentle cycle with cold water.
- Drying: This is the most crucial step for down insulation.
- Tumble dry on a low heat setting with two or three clean tennis balls or dryer balls. This helps to break up clumps of down and restore its loft (fluffiness).
- Drying may take several hours. Periodically remove the jacket and gently pat or fluff it by hand to redistribute the down.
- Ensure the jacket is completely dry before storing to prevent mildew and preserve down quality.
- Storage: Store in a dry, well-ventilated area, preferably hanging or loosely folded, rather than compressed for long periods.
