Setup, Compatibility & Care
Initial Setup
Upon receiving the jacket, remove all packaging. If the jacket appears compressed from shipping, gently shake it to help the 700-fill padding loft up. Fasten the main zipper and check the elasticated cuffs for a snug but comfortable fit on your child.
Compatibility
- Age Group: Designed specifically for `kids`.
- Gender: Primarily listed for `Male`, but its unisex style makes it suitable for all children. (Note: other variants indicate 'Unisex' for kids).
- Weather: Best suited for cold, dry conditions or light precipitation due to its DWR finish.
Care Instructions
Proper care is essential to maintain the jacket's warmth and water repellency. Always refer to the specific care label inside the jacket for the most accurate instructions. Generally, follow these guidelines:
- Washing: Machine wash cold on a gentle cycle with a mild detergent. Use a down-specific cleaner if available, or a non-detergent soap. Avoid fabric softeners and bleach.
- Drying: Tumble dry on low heat with several clean tennis balls or dryer balls. This helps to redistribute the down fill and restore its loft. Drying can take several hours, and it's crucial for the jacket to be completely dry to prevent mildew and preserve insulation. Periodically remove the jacket and fluff it by hand during the drying process.
- Water Repellency: The DWR finish may wear off over time. To restore it, use a DWR-restoring product specifically designed for outerwear, following the product's instructions. This is typically applied after washing and drying.
- Storage: When not in use, store the jacket loosely in a dry, well-ventilated area. Avoid compressing it for long periods, as this can reduce the loft of the down.
