Setup
Using your HOKA Bondi 9 shoes is straightforward:
- Lacing: Unlace the shoes sufficiently, slide your foot in, and ensure your heel is seated comfortably at the back.
- Fit: Lace up the shoes, ensuring a secure but not overly tight fit. There should be a thumb's width of space between your longest toe and the end of the shoe. The structured knit upper should feel snug but not restrictive.
- Initial Wear: Take a short walk or light jog to get accustomed to the shoe's feel, especially the MetaRocker and the cushioned ride.
Compatibility
These shoes are primarily designed for:
- Road Running: Excellent for asphalt, concrete, and paved paths.
- Long Distances: Built to provide comfort and support over many miles.
- Neutral to Moderate Pronation: The Active Foot Frame offers inherent stability without being a traditional stability shoe.
They are not specifically designed for:
- Aggressive trail running
- Track spikes or speed work on tracks (though light speed work on roads is fine)
Care
Proper care will extend the life and maintain the performance of your HOKA Bondi 9 shoes:
- Cleaning: Gently wipe away dirt and grime from the Textile and Synthetic Upper and Synthetic Sole with a damp cloth and mild soap. Avoid harsh chemicals.
- Drying: Always air dry your shoes at room temperature, away from direct heat sources like radiators or sunlight, as this can damage materials. Do not put them in a dryer.
- Storage: Store them in a cool, dry place. Avoid leaving them in direct sunlight or extreme temperatures for extended periods.
- Odor: If odors develop, remove insoles to air out. You can also use shoe deodorizers.
- Wear Indicators: Monitor the durable outsole with abrasion resistant rubber pods for excessive wear. Worn out soles can reduce traction and impact cushioning.
