Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup & Application Instructions
Applying your D-C-Fix Wild Oak Wood Sticky Back Furniture Wrap is a straightforward process, but proper preparation ensures the best results.
- Prepare the Surface: Ensure the surface is thoroughly clean, dry, and smooth. Remove any dust, grease, loose paint, or debris. A clean, non-porous surface is crucial for optimal adhesion.
- Measure and Cut: Measure the area you intend to cover, adding a small overlap (about 1-2 cm) on all sides. Utilize the grid lines on the backing paper to cut the film accurately and straight.
- Initial Peel: Gently peel back about 5-10 cm (2-4 inches) of the backing paper from one edge of the film.
- Position and Apply: Carefully align the exposed adhesive edge of the film with the starting edge of your surface. Press it down firmly.
- Smooth and Adhere: Slowly and gradually peel off the remaining backing paper with one hand, while simultaneously smoothing the film onto the surface with your other hand (or a squeegee/credit card). Work from the center outwards to push out any air bubbles.
- Address Bubbles: If bubbles appear, gently lift the film back to the bubble and reapply, smoothing carefully. For small, stubborn bubbles, you can prick them with a fine needle and then smooth them down.
- Trim Excess: Once the film is fully applied, use a sharp craft knife or scissors to carefully trim any excess material around the edges for a clean finish.
Compatibility
- Recommended Surfaces: This film is designed for smooth, clean, dry, and non-porous surfaces such as laminate, painted wood, metal, plastic, glass, and sealed MDF. It adheres best to materials that are free from texture or dust.
- Not Recommended: Avoid applying to highly textured, porous, or rough surfaces like untreated wood, brick, stucco, or heavily textured walls, as adhesion will be compromised and the finish may not be smooth.
Care & Maintenance
- Cleaning: To clean the wrapped surface, simply wipe it with a damp cloth and a mild, non-abrasive detergent. Avoid using harsh chemicals, scouring pads, or abrasive cleaners, which can damage the film's finish.
- Heat Exposure: The film is heat-resistant up to 75°C (167°F). Always use trivets or heat pads for hot dishes, pots, or appliances to prevent direct contact with temperatures exceeding this limit. Prolonged exposure to excessive heat can cause damage, bubbling, or peeling.
- Maintenance: Periodically check the edges of the film to ensure they remain firmly adhered. If any lifting occurs, gently press them back down to maintain a seamless finish.
