FAQs

Are these trainers waterproof?

The standard Cloudnova Rift model is designed for breathability and is not classified as waterproof.

Can I use these for marathon running?

While the Cloudnova Rift is comfortable, it is engineered for everyday lifestyle and light movement; we recommend ON's dedicated performance running series for long-distance training.

How do I choose the right size?

These trainers generally fit true to size. If you plan to wear thick socks, some users prefer sizing up by a half size.

Is the Speedboard removable?

No, the Speedboard is integrated into the midsole construction to provide stability and energy return.

What is the best way to dry them if they get wet?

Air dry them at room temperature with the laces loosened. Do not place them in a tumble dryer.

Troubleshooting

Feeling discomfort after long wear

Ensure the laces are adjusted evenly to prevent pressure points; if you have specific arch needs, consider a sport-specific insole.

Midsole looks dirty or dusty

Wipe the white or exposed sections of the CloudTec elements with a damp magic eraser or a cloth dipped in soapy water.

Sensation of slippage in the heel

Try the 'runner's loop' lacing technique using the final eyelet to create a tighter lock around the ankle collar.

Pros and Cons

Pros

Superior underfoot cushioning for long-term comfort
Responsive energy return via the integrated Speedboard
Versatile design suitable for both casual and active settings
Durable construction materials for reliable daily use

Cons

Not intended for extreme off-road or technical terrain
Support is optimized for everyday movement rather than high-impact athletic performance
Grey colorway may show dirt more easily than darker alternatives

Setup, Compatibility & Care

To ensure your ON Cloudnova Rift trainers remain in top condition, follow these recommendations:

Breaking In: These shoes offer a comfortable fit right out of the box, but wearing them for short periods initially will allow the materials to adapt to your foot shape.
Cleaning: Remove excess dirt with a soft brush after use. For deeper cleaning, use a damp cloth with mild soap; avoid soaking the shoes or putting them in a washing machine, as this can degrade the specialized midsole components.
Storage: Keep your trainers in a well-ventilated area away from direct heat sources, such as radiators, which can warp the cushioning materials over time.
Compatibility: The neutral fit is designed to accommodate standard insoles. If you use custom orthotics, ensure the factory liner is removed first for the best internal volume.
