Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup
- Lacing: Loosen the laces completely. Slide your foot into the boot, using the `pull loop` at the back for assistance.
- Fit: Ensure your heel is comfortably seated at the back of the boot. Lace them up snugly but not too tightly, allowing for natural foot movement without excessive pressure points. There should be a small amount of space in front of your toes.
- Initial Wear: Wear your new boots around the house for a few hours before your first outdoor adventure. This helps break them in and ensures a comfortable fit.
Compatibility
These boots are compatible with a range of outdoor activities, including:
- Light to moderate hiking
- Dog walking
- Nature photography trips
- General outdoor recreation in varying weather conditions
They are best suited for terrain where a mid-height boot provides adequate ankle support and protection, such as forest trails, moorland, and established hiking paths.
Care
To ensure the longevity and performance of your Gelert Horizon Mid Waterproof Walking Boots, follow these care instructions:
- Cleaning: After each use, especially if dirty, clean with a soft damp cloth. Gently wipe away mud, dirt, and debris from the synthetic upper and outsole. Avoid harsh brushes or abrasive cleaners that could damage the waterproof membrane or material.
- Drying: Allow the boots to air dry naturally at room temperature. Do not expose them to direct heat sources like radiators or open fires, as this can damage materials and adhesives.
- Storage: Store your boots in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Ensure they are completely dry before storing to prevent mildew growth.
- Waterproofing: While the boots feature a waterproof membrane, over time, the outer synthetic material may benefit from a re-proofing spray designed for synthetic footwear to maintain its water-repellency and prevent saturation.
