Setup, Compatibility & Care Instructions
To achieve the best results and ensure the longevity of your Crown Easyclean Bathroom Paint, follow these guidelines carefully.
Surface Preparation (Setup)
Proper preparation is the foundation for a flawless finish and maximum durability.
- Clean Surfaces: Thoroughly clean all surfaces to be painted. Remove any loose paint, dirt, grease, and especially any existing mould or mildew. Use a fungicidal wash for mould treatment, following the product's instructions.
- Rinse and Dry: Rinse surfaces with clean water to remove cleaning residues and allow them to dry completely before painting.
- Fill and Sand: Fill any cracks or holes with appropriate filler and sand smooth. Sand glossy surfaces lightly to provide a key for the paint.
- Prime (if necessary): For new, bare, or highly porous surfaces (like new plaster), or if you are painting over a significantly darker colour, a suitable primer may be required to ensure even absorption and coverage. Consult the paint can for specific priming recommendations.
Compatibility
Crown Easyclean Bathroom Paint is compatible with the following interior surfaces:
- Walls: Plaster, plasterboard, previously painted walls.
- Ceilings: Plaster, plasterboard, previously painted ceilings.
- Wood: Interior wooden trim, doors, window frames.
- Metal: Interior metal surfaces (e.g., radiators, pipes), ensuring they are properly primed for rust prevention if necessary.
Care & Maintenance
To keep your painted surfaces looking their best and benefiting from the anti-mould protection:
- Allow Full Cure: Allow the paint to fully cure before washing or wiping. This can take several days to a week, even if it feels dry to the touch.
- Gentle Cleaning: For routine cleaning, wipe surfaces with a soft, damp cloth and a mild detergent. Avoid abrasive cleaners or harsh scrubbing pads, as these can damage the paint finish.
- Ventilation: Ensure adequate ventilation in the bathroom, especially after showering or bathing, to minimize condensation and support the paint's anti-mould properties. Use extractor fans or open windows.
- Address Spills Promptly: Clean up any splashes or spills immediately to prevent staining.
- Inspect Regularly: Periodically check for any signs of mould, especially in poorly ventilated areas. While the paint is mould-resistant, extreme conditions can still challenge its effectiveness over time.
