FAQs

What is the recommended shock leader?

The Spomb Braided Shock-leader is recommended for use with the Spomb Braid.

What knot should I use?

Use strong knots like the Palomar knot or the Albright knot.

How often should I replace the braid?

Inspect the braid regularly for damage. Replace it if you notice any fraying or weakness. The lifespan depends on usage and care.

Can I use this braid for other types of fishing?

Yes, but the Spomb Braid is optimized for spodding. The high visibility and low stretch make it useful for many fishing situations.

How do I maintain the color of the braid?

Rinse the braid with fresh water after each use and store it in a cool, dark place away from direct sunlight.

Troubleshooting

Line breaks during casting.

Check your knots and ensure they are tied correctly. Check for any damage on the braid. Replace if needed. Ensure you are using a shock leader.

Poor casting distance.

Make sure your reel is loaded correctly and that the line is spooled evenly. Check for wind knots and ensure the line is not tangled. Check your casting technique.

Braid becomes frayed.

Check for abrasion from rocks or structure. Replace damaged sections of braid. Use a shock leader.

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • Exceptional casting distance.
  • Highly visible in the water.
  • Strong and reliable knot strength.
  • Low diameter for increased reel capacity.
  • Virtually no stretch for better bite detection.

Cons

  • Requires a Spomb Braided Shock-leader for best results.
  • May require some practice to achieve maximum casting distance.
  • Floating braid can get caught in vegetation.
  • Color may fade over time with prolonged sun exposure.

Setup, Compatibility & Care

  1. Reel Compatibility: The Spomb Braid is compatible with most fixed spool reels. Ensure your reel has sufficient line capacity for the braid.
  2. Knots: Use strong and reliable knots like the Palomar knot or the Albright knot when attaching the braid to your hooklink or leader. Test the knot strength before casting.
  3. Shock Leader: Always use the Spomb Braided Shock-leader, this will protect against the force of long-distance casts. The shock leader will also absorb any abrasion if fishing near structure.
  4. Care: Rinse the braid with fresh water after each use to remove salt and debris. Store the braid in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
