Full details

This Frenchic Trim Paint in 'Grey' is ideal for DIY enthusiasts and homeowners looking to refresh interior woodwork, furniture, and even radiators with a sophisticated, calming neutral. Its key benefit is the all-in-one nature, requiring no primer or topcoat, saving time and effort. A caveat is its specific shade which can appear differently depending on lighting conditions. This water-based, low VOC paint offers a soft-satin sheen and a robust, scuff-resistant finish suitable for a variety of surfaces.

FAQs

Do I really need a primer and topcoat with this paint?

No, Frenchic Trim Paint is formulated as a self-priming and self-sealing paint, meaning you typically only need to apply two coats of the paint itself for a durable, finished look.

How long does the paint take to dry?

Drying times can vary, but generally, the paint is touch-dry within 1-2 hours. Recoating is usually recommended after 2-4 hours, depending on humidity and temperature.

What surfaces can I use this paint on?

It is suitable for most interior surfaces including woodwork, trims, skirting boards, doors, radiators, metal, and various furniture types (wood, laminate, kitchen cupboards).

Is this paint safe for children's rooms?

Yes, the paint is water-based, low VOC, and low odour. It is also EN71-3 certified, meaning it is safe to use on children's toys and furniture.

How do I clean my brushes after using this paint?

Clean your brushes and equipment immediately after use with warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly.

How much area does a 500ml tin cover?

A 500ml tin will cover approximately 7m² with a single coat. Two coats are recommended for durability, covering about 3.5m².

Can I use this paint on exterior surfaces?

This paint is designed for interior use only.

Troubleshooting

Paint is not adhering well or peeling.

Ensure the surface was properly cleaned and free from grease, dust, or previous finishes that may interfere with adhesion. Lightly sanding glossy surfaces before application can help.

Uneven finish or brush marks are visible.

Ensure paint is stirred thoroughly. Apply thin, even coats using a quality brush or roller. Avoid overworking the paint. Allow adequate drying time between coats.

Colour appears different than expected.

Note that the 'Grey' shade presents differently depending on light and surroundings. Test the colour in your intended space under various lighting conditions before committing to a large project.

Paint is too thick to apply smoothly.

Stir the paint thoroughly. If necessary and only if absolutely essential, a *very* small amount of water can be added, but this may compromise the finish. Ensure paint is stored at room temperature.

Setup, Compatibility & Care

Preparation: Ensure surfaces are clean, dry, and free from grease or contaminants. Lightly sanding glossy surfaces can improve adhesion, though it is not strictly necessary for all applications. Remove any loose paint or debris.

Application: Stir the paint thoroughly before use. Apply with a good quality brush or roller suitable for water-based paints. Two thin coats are recommended for best durability, allowing adequate drying time between coats. Avoid painting in very humid conditions or at low temperatures.

Compatibility: This paint is suitable for interior woodwork, trims, skirting, doors, powder-coated radiators, metal surfaces, and a wide variety of furniture including kitchen cupboards and built-in units made of wood or laminate. It is also safe for use on children's toys.

Care: Clean brushes and equipment immediately after use with warm soapy water. The paint is water-based and low odour. For cleaning the painted surface, use a soft, damp cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners or harsh scrubbing to maintain the finish.
