Setup
- Layering: Wear appropriate base and mid-layers underneath for optimal warmth and moisture management. The jacket is designed to accommodate layering without restricting movement.
- Fitting: Ensure zippers are fully closed and any adjustable cuffs or hem are snug but comfortable to seal out weather.
Compatibility
This jacket is highly compatible with standard outdoor layering systems. It can be worn over fleece jackets, technical mid-layers, and thermal base layers, depending on the temperature and activity level. Its breathable nature complements moisture-wicking layers, enhancing overall comfort.
Care Instructions
Proper care is crucial to maintain the jacket's waterproofing and breathability:
- Washing: Machine wash cold (30°C) with a technical outdoor cleaner (e.g., Nikwax Tech Wash or Grangers Performance Wash) designed for waterproof fabrics. Avoid conventional detergents, fabric softeners, or bleach, as these can degrade the waterproof coating and DWR (Durable Water Repellent) finish.
- Drying: Close all zippers and hook-and-loop fasteners before washing. Tumble dry on a low heat setting, or air dry away from direct heat. Heat can help reactivate the DWR finish.
- Reproofing: Over time, the DWR finish may wear off, causing water to "wet out" the outer fabric instead of beading up. When this happens, reapply a DWR treatment (spray-on or wash-in) specifically designed for breathable waterproof garments. Follow the product's instructions carefully.
- Storage: Store the jacket in a dry, well-ventilated area, avoiding prolonged compression.
