Setup, Compatibility & Care
Getting started with your Fossil Scarlette Mini Watch is straightforward, and proper care will ensure its beauty and functionality for years to come.
Initial Setup
- Setting the Time: Gently pull the crown (the small knob on the side of the watch case) out to the first or second position. Turn the crown clockwise or counter-clockwise until the hands indicate the correct time. Push the crown back in completely to start the watch.
- Setting the Date: If your watch has a date display, pull the crown out to the first position. Turn the crown (usually counter-clockwise) until the correct date appears in the date window. If you pull it out to the second position, you will be adjusting the time. Push the crown back in completely.
- Tip: To avoid damaging the date mechanism, it's best to set the date when the watch hands are between 6:00 AM and 6:00 PM (e.g., set it at 9:00 AM) to prevent engaging the date change gear while it's actively trying to switch over around midnight.
Compatibility
- Wrist Size: With a 16mm band width and a 32mm case size, this 'mini' watch is designed for a more delicate fit. The bracelet is typically adjustable by removing links. Consult a jeweler or watch specialist for professional link removal to ensure a perfect fit without damaging the bracelet.
Product Care
- Cleaning: Regularly wipe your watch with a soft, dry, lint-free cloth to remove dirt, sweat, and oils. For the stainless steel and gold-plated components, a slightly damp cloth can be used, followed by immediate drying. Avoid harsh chemicals, solvents, or abrasive cleaners.
- Water Resistance: While water-resistant to 50m, avoid prolonged submersion, hot water (like in a hot tub or sauna, which can compromise seals), or operating the crown underwater. Always ensure the crown is fully pushed in.
- Impact Protection: Despite its durable mineral crystal, avoid dropping your watch or subjecting it to severe impacts, which can damage the movement or crystal.
- Temperature Extremes: Protect your watch from extreme temperatures, both hot and cold, as these can affect battery life and the accuracy of the quartz movement.
- Battery Replacement: The quartz movement is powered by a battery. When the watch stops or the second hand starts skipping (some watches have an End-of-Life indicator), it's time for a battery replacement. It is recommended to have this done by a professional watch repair service to ensure proper sealing and maintain water resistance.
