Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup
To ensure optimal comfort and support when putting on your Gelert Horizon Walking Boots:
- Loosen Laces: Fully loosen the laces from the top eyelets downwards.
- Use Pull Loop: Utilize the pull loop at the back to help slide your foot into the boot.
- Position Foot: Ensure your heel is comfortably seated at the back of the boot.
- Lace Up: Starting from the bottom, tighten the laces evenly, ensuring the boot feels snug but not overly tight across your foot and around your ankle. A proper lacing technique prevents slippage and blisters.
Compatibility
These boots are compatible with a variety of outdoor activities and environments:
- Activities: Ideal for hiking, trekking, nature walks, dog walking, camping, and general outdoor use.
- Terrain: Suited for varied terrains including dirt paths, gravel trails, grassy fields, and light rocky surfaces.
- Weather: Designed for wet weather conditions, offering protection from rain, mud, and puddles. Optimal for spring, autumn, and mild winter use.
- Socks: Best paired with moisture-wicking hiking socks to enhance comfort and prevent blisters.
Care
Proper care will extend the life and maintain the performance of your boots:
- Cleaning: After use, especially in muddy or dirty conditions, clean the synthetic upper promptly. Use a soft damp cloth to gently wipe away dirt and debris. For stubborn mud, a soft brush can be used on the outsole.
- Drying: Allow the boots to air dry naturally at room temperature. Avoid direct heat sources like radiators or open fires, as this can damage the materials and waterproof membrane. You can remove insoles and open the laces wide to aid drying.
- Storage: Store boots in a cool, dry, well-ventilated area away from direct sunlight. Avoid storing them in damp or confined spaces.
- Inspection: Regularly inspect the outsole for wear and tear, and check laces for fraying. Replace worn components as needed.
