Setup, Compatibility & Care

To ensure optimal performance and longevity of your Nikon Z 5 Mirrorless Camera and Nikkor Z 24-70mm f/4 S Lens, follow these guidelines for setup, compatibility, and care.

Initial Setup

1. Charge the Battery: Before first use, fully charge the camera battery. You can do this by connecting the camera via the supplied USB-C cable to a power source (AC adapter or power bank) or by using an external battery charger if available.
2. Insert SD Cards: Open the memory card slot cover and insert two UHS-II compatible SD cards into the dual slots. Ensure they are inserted correctly, facing the right direction.
3. Attach the Lens: Remove the body cap from the camera and the rear cap from the Nikkor Z 24-70mm f/4 S lens. Align the white mounting dot on the lens with the white mounting dot on the camera body. Gently twist the lens clockwise until it clicks into place.
4. Power On: Press the power button to turn on the camera. Follow the on-screen prompts to set the language, date, and time.

Compatibility

• Lenses: The Nikon Z 5 is compatible with all Nikon Z-mount lenses. For using older F-mount NIKKOR lenses, an optional Mount Adapter FTZ II is required (not included in this kit).
• Memory Cards: The camera supports dual SD card slots, specifically designed for high-speed UHS-II SDXC/SDHC cards to handle 4K video recording and rapid continuous shooting.
• Accessories: Compatible with various Nikon accessories such as external flashes, microphones, and remote controls. Refer to the camera's manual for a comprehensive list.

Care and Maintenance

• Cleaning the Body: Wipe the camera body with a soft, clean, lint-free cloth. For stubborn dirt, lightly dampen the cloth with water. Avoid harsh chemicals.
• Cleaning the Lens: Use a lens blower to remove dust particles from the lens surface. For smudges, use a dedicated lens cleaning solution and a microfiber lens cloth, cleaning in a circular motion from the center outwards.
• Sensor Cleaning: If dust appears on your images, you can use the camera's built-in sensor cleaning function. For persistent dust, consider having it professionally cleaned by a Nikon service center.
• Weather Sealing: While the camera and kit lens are weather-sealed, they are not waterproof. Avoid direct exposure to heavy rain, dust storms, or submerging in water. Always wipe down any moisture after use in damp conditions.
• Storage: When not in use, store the camera and lens in a dry, cool place, preferably in a camera bag or cabinet to protect against dust and humidity. If storing for extended periods, remove the battery.
