Setup, Compatibility & Care
Compatibility Check: Before installation, verify that your Campagnolo or Fulcrum wheel features a 12mm axle and sealed cartridge bearings. Confirm your specific wheel model is listed (e.g., Calima, pre-2014 Vento, Scirocco, Khamsin, Bullet) or consult your wheel's documentation. Ensure your intended cassette (Campagnolo 9/10/11-speed or Shimano HG 8/9/10/11-speed) is compatible with this freehub body.
Installation: Installation typically involves removing the rear wheel from the bicycle, then carefully unthreading the existing freehub body from the wheel's hub. This process often requires specific tools like a chain whip and a cassette lockring tool for cassette removal, and a specific freehub body tool for the body itself. It is recommended to consult a professional bike mechanic if you are unfamiliar with freehub body replacement.
Care: Keep the freehub body clean by periodically cleaning the cassette and chain. Avoid high-pressure washing directly at the hub bearings. Regular maintenance, including proper lubrication of the freehub's internal mechanism (often done during a full hub service), will ensure longevity and smooth operation.
