Product Information

Full details

The Valerie Objects Rocking Chair is designed for individuals seeking a functional art piece for modern or minimalistic interiors. Its key benefit is offering a striking, minimalist aesthetic that complements a space without overpowering it, providing a comfortable spot for relaxation or reading. A caveat is its specific design which prioritizes form and transparency, potentially making it less suited for spaces requiring maximalist or traditional furniture.

Troubleshooting

Chair wobbles unevenly

Ensure the chair is placed on a perfectly flat and level surface. Check that all frame components are securely in place, though significant structural issues are rare due to the design.

Leather appears dry or stiff

Apply a quality leather conditioner as per the product's instructions. Regular conditioning helps maintain the leather's suppleness and prevents cracking.

Frame finish is scratched

For minor scratches, assess if they can be polished out with a very fine metal polish suitable for lacquered surfaces. For deeper scratches, professional restoration may be required.

Colour transfer from frame to clothing

This is uncommon but possible with fresh paint. Ensure the frame is fully cured and dry. If issues persist, a light wipe-down with a very slightly damp cloth may help set the finish.

Pros and Cons

Pros

Striking minimalist aesthetic that enhances modern interiors.
Durable construction with a leather seat that ages gracefully.
Serves as both a functional piece of furniture and a work of art.
Visually lightweight design that doesn't dominate a room.
Available in bold, appealing colours.

Cons

May not fit traditional or highly ornate interior design styles.
The minimalist form might offer less plush comfort than conventional upholstered chairs.
Requires specific care for the leather and metal components.
As a design-forward piece, it may be perceived as less practical for everyday heavy use compared to more robust chairs.

Setup, Compatibility & Care

Setup: The Valerie Objects Rocking Chair is designed for immediate use with minimal assembly. It typically arrives fully constructed, with the rocking chair legs already attached to the main frame. Ensure the chair is placed on a level surface before use.

Compatibility: This rocking chair is best suited for modern, minimalist, and Scandinavian interior design styles. Its clean lines and bold colours also pair well with contemporary art and abstract decor. It complements other Muller Van Severen designs for Valerie Objects.

Care Instructions:

Frame: Wipe the lacquered metal frame with a soft, dry or slightly damp cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents, which can damage the finish.
Leather Seat: For the leather seat, use a conditioner specifically designed for genuine leather to maintain its suppleness and prevent drying. Clean spills immediately with a dry cloth. Over time, the leather will naturally darken and develop a richer appearance. Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight, which can cause fading.
