You should use a 10 mm drill bit to achieve the correct hole size for the press-in dowels.
While the nickel plating offers some protection, these are primarily designed for interior cabinetry and are not recommended for direct outdoor exposure.
The drilling depth should be at least 11 mm to accommodate the dowel length.
These are generally intended for a single installation. Removing them may damage the plastic ribs that hold the dowel in place.
The included screws are 20 mm in length.
Check that your drill bit is exactly 10 mm. If the hole is too tight, clear away any internal sawdust or wood chips.
Ensure the dowel is fully inserted and flush with the surface. If the wood hole was drilled too wide, the dowel cannot expand properly.
For installation, ensure you use a sharp 10 mm drill bit to create an 11 mm deep bore hole. Clean out any debris or sawdust from the hole before inserting the dowel to ensure a flush fit. Gently tap the plastic dowel into the hole using a rubber mallet if it does not push in by hand. Once seated, align your hinge plate and drive the 20 mm nickel-plated screw into the center of the dowel until firm resistance is met. Do not overtighten, as this can strip the plastic threads. For maintenance, check the screws once a year if the cabinet doors feel loose, simply tightening them to expand the dowel grip.
