While it prefers outdoor life in a sunny position, it can be kept in a very bright, cool conservatory if air circulation is excellent.

It prefers a rich, well-draining soil. If using pots, a mix of peat-free compost with added grit is ideal.

Very little maintenance is required. Simply trim off any dead or damaged lower leaves in the spring to keep the plant tidy.

Cordyline species can be toxic if ingested by pets; it is recommended to keep them out of reach of curious animals.

Often a sign of inconsistent watering; ensure the soil remains moist but not saturated.

Can indicate poor drainage or overwatering; check that the pot has sufficient drainage holes.
