Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup
Simply wear the jacket over your desired baselayers. Ensure the hood and cuffs are adjusted for a snug fit. Use the dual-sided rear hem adjustment to cinch the hem if wearing a harness or backpack to prevent it from riding up.
Compatibility
The regular fit of the Cirrus Alpine Jacket allows for excellent compatibility with various layering systems. It can be worn comfortably over a thermal baselayer and a light fleece during colder conditions. For full protection in wet weather, it is designed to fit under a waterproof hardshell jacket. The hem adjustment ensures it works seamlessly with climbing harnesses and hiking backpack hip belts.
Care Instructions
To maintain the performance and longevity of your Rab Cirrus Alpine Jacket, follow these care guidelines:
- Washing: Machine wash cold on a gentle cycle using a technical wash specifically designed for insulated garments (e.g., Nikwax Tech Wash or Grangers Performance Wash). Do not use conventional detergents, fabric softeners, or bleach.
- Drying: Tumble dry on a low heat setting with a few clean tennis balls to help restore loft. Ensure the jacket is completely dry before storing to prevent mildew. This may take several hours.
- DWR Re-application: Over time, the DWR finish may wear off. If water no longer beads on the surface, you can re-apply a spray-on or wash-in DWR treatment (e.g., Nikwax TX.Direct or Grangers Repel).
- Storage: Store the jacket uncompressed in a cool, dry place. Avoid prolonged compression, as this can reduce the loft and effectiveness of the insulation.
- Stains: Spot clean small stains with a damp cloth and mild soap. Avoid harsh scrubbing.
