The Trek Velocis Mips Cycle Road Helmet is designed for dedicated road cyclists and racers who prioritize professional-grade safety and aerodynamic efficiency. Its core benefit lies in the integration of MIPS (Multi-directional Impact Protection System) technology, which provides superior impact protection, combined with a highly ventilated, wind-cheating profile for sustained high-speed efforts. A notable caveat for casual riders is that its high-performance, race-focused design may feel less substantial than bulkier commuter-style helmets, and it is specifically optimized for forward-leaning road riding positions.

MIPS stands for Multi-directional Impact Protection System. It is an internal layer designed to reduce rotational forces to the brain caused by angled impacts.
While it offers excellent protection, this helmet is designed specifically for road cycling. It lacks the extended rear coverage and visor found on dedicated mountain bike helmets.
You should replace your helmet after any significant impact, even if there is no visible damage, as the internal foam may be compromised. Additionally, it is recommended to replace any helmet after 3-5 years of regular use.
The helmet features an adjustable retention system to fit a wide range of head sizes, but we always recommend trying it on to ensure a secure fit for your specific head shape.
The inner pads are typically removable and can be hand-washed with mild soap and water. Allow them to air dry completely before reattaching.
Adjust the rear fit dial and ensure the chin strap is tightened to a secure level where only one or two fingers fit between the strap and your chin.
Check that the internal air channels are not blocked by hair or headwear. Ensure the helmet is level on your head to allow air to flow through the front intake ports.
To achieve the best protection, ensure the helmet is positioned level on your forehead, covering the upper portion of your brow. Use the rear retention dial to adjust the internal cradle until the fit is snug but comfortable; it should not wobble when you shake your head.
