FAQs

How do I choose the right S259 wedge loft and grind?

Ping recommends using their WebFit Wedge app, which analyzes your swing and playing conditions to suggest the most suitable loft and grind combinations for your game.

What is the advantage of the Hydropearl 2.0 Chrome finish?

This finish is designed to repel moisture, helping to maintain consistent spin and control, especially in wet or damp playing conditions.

Is the Midnight finish available in all lofts and grinds?

In Europe, the Midnight finish is exclusively available on the S Grind.

What material are the S259 wedges made from?

The S259 wedges are forged from 8620 carbon steel, providing a soft and responsive feel at impact.

Can I get these wedges with a different shaft or grip?

The S259 comes standard with the PING Z-Z115 Steel Wedge shaft and a PING Dyla Wedge Grip. Custom options may be available through authorized Ping retailers.

How do the grooves contribute to performance?

The wheel-cut grooves, combined with a precision-machined face and face-blast technology, create increased friction for higher spin rates and improved control, particularly on partial shots. Groove geometry is optimized by loft.

What is the expected lifespan of these wedges?

With proper care and regular cleaning, these forged wedges are built for durability and should provide consistent performance over multiple seasons of play.

Troubleshooting

Spin rate seems lower than expected.

Ensure the clubface and grooves are clean. Debris can significantly reduce spin. Consider using the WebFit Wedge app to confirm you have the optimal loft and grind for your swing.

Club feels less responsive at impact.

Verify the club is correctly fitted to your swing. Forged 8620 carbon steel offers a soft feel, but an incorrect lie angle or fit can affect perception. Check for any damage to the clubhead.

Performance is inconsistent in wet conditions.

Ensure you are using the Hydropearl 2.0 Chrome finish, which is designed to repel moisture. Keep the clubface clean, as water and mud can still impact spin even with the special finish.

Setup, Compatibility & Care Instructions

Setup:

To ensure you select the ideal Ping S259 wedge for your game, Ping offers the WebFit Wedge app. This tool provides a fitting experience by recommending specific loft and grind combinations based on your swing characteristics and typical playing conditions.

Compatibility:

  • Shaft: The S259 wedges come standard with the PING Z-Z115 Steel Wedge shaft, designed for low-to-mid launch and spin. This shaft is compatible with standard golf club integration.
  • Grip: Equipped with a PING Dyla Wedge Grip (Standard size, .580" core, 52g), which offers a comfortable and secure feel.
  • Player Profile: Suitable for adult golfers of all genders looking to improve their short game.

Care:

  • Cleaning: After each round, it is recommended to clean the clubface with a soft brush or damp cloth to remove dirt, grass, and sand. This helps maintain the integrity of the grooves and face texture for optimal performance.
  • Storage: Store your wedges in your golf bag away from extreme temperatures or moisture when not in use.
  • Finish Maintenance: While the finishes are durable, avoid abrasive cleaning materials that could damage the surface.
