Setup, Compatibility & Care
Proper preparation and application are key to achieving the best results with Dulux Pebble Shore Eggshell paint.
Setup & Surface Preparation
- Clean: Ensure the surface is clean, dry, and free from dirt, grease, or loose material. For previously painted surfaces, remove any flaking or peeling paint.
- Smooth: Sand down any rough areas or previous paint drips to create a smooth base. Fill any holes or cracks with appropriate filler and sand smooth once dry.
- Prime (Optional/Recommended): For bare wood or metal, or if switching from a dark to a lighter colour, applying a suitable primer will enhance adhesion and coverage.
- Stir: Thoroughly stir the paint before use to ensure a consistent colour and consistency throughout the can.
Application
- Apply First Coat: Using a high-quality brush, apply an even, thin coat of paint to the surface. Avoid overloading the brush to prevent drips.
- Allow to Dry: Let the first coat dry for a full 16 hours before attempting to apply the second coat. This is crucial for proper adhesion and finish.
- Apply Second Coat: Once the first coat is completely dry, apply a second even coat. Two coats are recommended for optimal colour depth and durability.
Compatibility
- This paint is specifically designed for use on metal and wood surfaces.
- It is intended for interior use.
Care & Maintenance
- Cleaning Tools: Clean your brush immediately after use with an appropriate brush cleaner or white spirit. Do not allow paint to dry on tools.
- Storage: Store the paint in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and frost. Ensure the lid is securely sealed to prevent the paint from drying out.
- Painted Surfaces: Once fully cured (which can take several days to a week), painted surfaces can typically be wiped clean with a soft, damp cloth.
