Setup, Compatibility & Care
First-Time Use & Sizing
- Try On for Fit: Always try on your Nike Initiator shoes with the type of socks you typically wear for running or activity. Ensure adequate space (about a thumb's width) between your longest toe and the end of the shoe.
- Lacing: Experiment with different lacing techniques to find the most comfortable and secure fit for your foot, preventing heel slip or pressure points.
- Break-In Period: While often comfortable out of the box, allow a short break-in period (a few shorter runs or walks) for the shoe to fully mold to your foot.
Compatibility
The Nike Initiator is designed for adults, specifically as a running shoe, making it compatible with a wide range of athletic activities where comfort and basic support are prioritized. Its UK 7 sizing caters specifically to that foot measurement, ensuring a proper fit for the intended user.
Care & Maintenance
Proper care extends the life and maintains the performance of your running shoes:
- Remove Loose Dirt: Use a soft brush (like an old toothbrush) to gently brush off any loose dirt from the upper, midsole, and outsole.
- Mild Soap Solution: Mix a small amount of mild detergent (like dish soap) with warm water.
- Spot Clean: Dip a soft cloth or sponge into the soapy water and gently wipe down dirty areas. Avoid saturating the shoes.
- Rinse & Dry: Wipe off soap residue with a clean, damp cloth. Allow shoes to air dry completely at room temperature, away from direct heat or sunlight. Do not put them in a washing machine or dryer.
- Storage: Store your shoes in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight when not in use. Avoid storing them in damp or confined spaces to prevent odors or material degradation.
- Odor Control: If odors develop, remove the insoles and air them out. You can also use shoe deodorizers or sprinkle a small amount of baking soda inside the shoes overnight (remove before wearing).
- Avoid Harsh Chemicals: Do not use bleach or harsh cleaning agents, as these can damage the materials and compromise the shoe's integrity.
- Regular Inspection: Periodically check the outsole for excessive wear, especially if you notice reduced traction. Inspect the upper for tears or signs of stress that might indicate it's time for a new pair.
