Setup, Compatibility & Care
Initial Use: Upon receiving your Karrimor Sierra Insulated Waterproof Jacket, simply unpack it. The synthetic insulation will naturally loft, providing immediate warmth.
Compatibility & Layering: This jacket is designed as an outer layer. For optimal warmth in colder conditions, it can be layered over a moisture-wicking base layer and an insulating mid-layer (e.g., fleece). Its fit allows for comfortable layering without restricting movement.
Care Instructions:
- Washing: Machine wash cold on a gentle cycle. Use a mild technical detergent specifically designed for waterproof and insulated outdoor gear. Avoid using fabric softeners, bleach, or harsh detergents as these can degrade the waterproof coating and insulation.
- Drying: Tumble dry on a low heat setting with a few clean tennis balls to help restore the insulation's loft. Alternatively, air dry flat in a well-ventilated area, away from direct sunlight or heat sources. Ensure the jacket is completely dry before storing to prevent mildew and maintain insulation performance.
- Storage: Store the jacket clean and dry in a cool, dark place. Avoid compressing it for extended periods, as this can reduce the loft and effectiveness of the insulation over time.
- DWR Reapplication: Over time, the Durable Water Repellent (DWR) finish on the outer fabric may wear off, causing water to soak in rather than bead up. You can restore this by applying a spray-on or wash-in DWR treatment according to the product's instructions.
