The Manthorpe Circular Soffit Vent (G700AG) is an essential ventilation component designed for homeowners and contractors looking to improve roof space airflow in existing buildings. This grey, retrofit-friendly vent provides a quick, cost-effective way to prevent moisture buildup in loft areas by allowing consistent air circulation through the soffit board. While it is highly efficient for targeted ventilation, users should note that the installation requires precise hole-cutting to ensure a secure, flush fit in the eaves.

You need a standard 70mm diameter hole saw.
Yes, these vents are compatible with both timber and PVC-u soffit boards provided they can be cut to the required 70mm diameter.
The number of vents depends on the length of your eaves and the specific ventilation requirements of your roof space. It is standard to space them every 600mm to 1000mm.
While the grey finish is designed to be standard, you can lightly sand and paint them if you need to match a specific soffit color, though it is not recommended to block the airflow gaps.
A power drill and a 70mm hole saw attachment are the only tools required for the installation.
Ensure the hole cut is exactly 70mm. If the hole is too large, the locking tabs may not grip the edges of the soffit board correctly.
Check the loft side of the soffit to ensure that loft insulation has not been pushed too far into the eaves, blocking the path of the air.
To install the vent, first mark the desired position on the underside of your soffit. Use a 70mm holesaw to drill cleanly through the board. Ensure that the cavity behind the soffit is clear of insulation material that might block the airflow. Once the hole is prepared, simply push the vent into the opening and rotate it until it clicks into the locked position. To maintain the vents, periodically check them for debris, such as leaves or spider webs, that could restrict air movement. A quick wipe with a damp cloth or a spray with an air duster is usually sufficient to keep them functioning at peak performance.
