Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup:
Upon receiving your Tissot Gentleman, if it has stopped, you will need to wind the crown manually. Gently turn the crown clockwise approximately 30-40 times until you feel resistance. This will build up the initial power reserve. You can then set the time and date by pulling the crown to the appropriate position.
Compatibility:
- Bracelet: The watch comes with a stainless steel bracelet featuring a quick-release system. This allows for easy swapping with other 19mm straps (check exact lug width if purchasing third-party straps) that also feature a quick-release mechanism or standard spring bars.
- Movement: The Powermatic 80 movement is designed for accuracy and resilience, but like all mechanical watches, it benefits from regular servicing.
Care:
- Cleaning: Clean the stainless steel case and bracelet with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive materials. For the sapphire crystal, a gentle wipe with a microfiber cloth is recommended.
- Water Resistance: While water-resistant to 100 meters, it is advisable to rinse the watch with fresh water and dry it thoroughly after exposure to salt water or chlorinated water. Ensure the crown is pushed in or screwed down before any water-related activities.
- Avoid Magnetic Fields: Although the Nivachron hairspring offers increased resistance to magnetism, it is still best practice to keep the watch away from strong magnetic sources like speakers or electronics.
