Service Class 2 refers to environments that are either unheated or heated, where moisture content in timber is typically below 20% for most of the year, but may exceed 20% for limited periods. This often corresponds to sheltered outdoor or specific indoor conditions.

The galvanised finish provides medium rust protection, which may not be sufficient for continuously exposed exterior applications like decks. For such uses, stainless steel or heavily coated exterior-grade nails are recommended.
