Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup
- Unbox the Keyboard: Carefully remove the Magic Keyboard and its woven USB-C Charge Cable from the packaging.
- Initial Connection & Pairing: Connect one end of the USB-C Charge Cable to the keyboard's USB-C port and the other end to a USB-C port on your compatible Mac. This initial connection will automatically pair the keyboard with your Mac and begin charging it.
- Wireless Use: Once paired, you can disconnect the cable for wireless use. The keyboard will automatically reconnect when in range.
- Touch ID Setup: After pairing, navigate to `System Settings` > `Touch ID & Password` on your Mac to set up your fingerprints for secure authentication.
Compatibility
This Apple Magic Keyboard with Touch ID is specifically compatible with:
- Mac models with Apple silicon (e.g., M1, M2, M3 series processors).
- Requires macOS Big Sur or a later version of the operating system.
It is not compatible with Intel-based Macs or other operating systems due to the specific integration of Touch ID and system requirements.
Care
- Cleaning: To clean the keyboard, gently wipe the surface with a soft, slightly damp, lint-free cloth. Avoid using abrasive materials, aerosol sprays, or solvents.
- Charging: Recharge the keyboard using the included USB-C Charge Cable by connecting it to your Mac's USB-C port. Ensure the cable is securely inserted into both the keyboard and the Mac.
- Storage: When not in use for extended periods, store the keyboard in a dry, clean environment. The long battery life means it can hold a charge for a significant time.
