Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup: The MKH 418-S features a 5-pin XLR output connector. To obtain separate Mid and Side signals for post-production processing, a dedicated M-S stereo splitter cable or a mixing console with M-S decoding capabilities is required. The microphone also requires standard 48V phantom power, supplied via the XLR connection.
Compatibility: This microphone is compatible with any audio recorder, mixer, or interface that provides 48V phantom power and accepts an XLR input. Ensure you have the correct 5-pin to dual 3-pin XLR splitter cable for standard stereo recording workflows.
Care: Keep the microphone and its protective case clean and dry. Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe down the microphone body. Avoid exposing the microphone to extreme temperatures or humidity for extended periods. When not in use, store it in its provided protective case to prevent damage.
