Setup, Compatibility & Care
Getting Started
Setting up your Apple Magic Keyboard is designed for simplicity:
- Unpack: Remove the keyboard and the included USB-C Charge Cable from the box.
- Charge (Optional but Recommended): Connect one end of the USB-C cable to the keyboard's USB-C port and the other end to a USB-C port on your Mac or a compatible power adapter. A short charge can ensure optimal performance from the start.
- Power On: Flip the power switch on the rear edge of the keyboard to the 'on' position.
- Pairing: For Mac, the keyboard will automatically pair. If it doesn't, or for other compatible devices, go to your device's Bluetooth settings and select the Magic Keyboard from the list of available devices.
Compatibility
This Magic Keyboard is universally compatible with a broad range of Apple devices and operating systems:
- Mac: Any Mac computer with macOS (requires a specific macOS version, check Apple's support page for specifics).
- iPad: All iPad models running iPadOS.
- iPhone: All iPhone models running iOS.
- Apple Vision Pro: Fully compatible with visionOS for spatial computing environments.
Product Care
To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your Magic Keyboard:
- Cleaning: Gently wipe the keyboard's surface with a soft, lint-free cloth. For stubborn spots, slightly dampen the cloth with water. Avoid excessive moisture or harsh cleaning agents.
- Charging: Use the included USB-C Charge Cable or another Apple-certified USB-C cable for charging. Avoid using non-compliant cables or power adapters.
- Storage: When not in use, store the keyboard in a clean, dry place. Avoid extreme temperatures or direct sunlight.
- Battery Maintenance: While the battery is long-lasting, occasional full discharge and recharge cycles can help maintain its health over time. Avoid leaving it completely drained for extended periods.
