Setup, Compatibility & Care
To install these plates, first ensure your wooden surfaces are aligned and clamped in place. Position the plate centered across the joint and mark the 8 holes using a pencil. It is recommended to pre-drill pilot holes into the wood to prevent splitting, especially when working with hardwoods. Select screws with a gauge appropriate for the 5mm hole diameter and a length that does not penetrate through the opposite side of your timber. Maintenance is minimal; simply check the screws for tightness annually, especially in outdoor settings where wood may shrink or expand with moisture changes. If the surface is exposed to salt air, a light coat of clear exterior-grade paint can further extend the life of the galvanised coating.
