Setup, Compatibility & Care
Initial Setup
Upon receiving your Nike Pegasus Trail 5 GORE TEX shoes, ensure they fit comfortably. Lace them up securely, but not too tightly, allowing for natural foot movement. A short walk or light jog can help you assess the fit and feel before your first longer run.
Compatibility
This shoe is ideal for:
- Mixed-Terrain Runners: Those who frequently switch between roads, paved paths, gravel, and light to moderate trails.
- All-Weather Enthusiasts: Runners who don't let rain or wet conditions stop their outdoor activities.
- Everyday Training: Suitable for daily runs and longer training sessions where comfort, protection, and versatility are key.
Care & Maintenance
Proper care will extend the life and performance of your shoes, especially the GORE-TEX membrane:
- Cleaning: After muddy runs, gently brush off loose dirt using a soft brush or cloth. For stubborn mud, rinse the shoes under lukewarm tap water. You can use a mild soap if necessary, but avoid harsh detergents.
- Drying: Remove the insoles and allow the shoes to air dry naturally at room temperature. Avoid direct heat sources like radiators or sunlight, as these can damage the materials and waterproof membrane.
- Waterproofing Renewal: Over time, the outer fabric (DWR treatment) may lose its water repellency. While the GORE-TEX membrane remains waterproof, the outer fabric might 'wet out.' You can restore the DWR by applying a GORE-TEX approved DWR spray or wash-in treatment.
- Storage: Store your shoes in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
- Avoid Machine Washing: Do not machine wash or tumble dry your shoes, as this can damage the GORE-TEX membrane and other components.
