Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup
Your Birkenstock Boston clogs are designed for immediate wear. Upon first use, adjust the metal pin buckle on the strap to achieve a comfortable, secure fit. The strap should be snug enough to hold the clog on your foot without pinching or allowing your foot to slide forward excessively. Allow for a break-in period, wearing them for short durations initially, to allow the cork-latex footbed to properly mold to your feet.
Compatibility
These clogs are compatible with a wide range of casual and semi-casual attire, suitable for year-round wear. They are designed for adult feet, specifically UK size 9 for this model. The unisex design (Info needed: confirm if all Boston variants are unisex, this specific variant mentions 'Male' in attributes but 'unisex' in description of other variants) makes them a versatile choice for many.
Care
- Leather Upper (Oiled Nubuck): To clean, gently brush off dirt with a soft brush. For deeper cleaning, use a damp cloth, being careful not to saturate the leather. Apply a suitable leather conditioner specifically designed for oiled nubuck to maintain its suppleness and water resistance. Avoid harsh chemicals.
- Footbed (Cork-Latex with Suede Lining): The suede lining can be cleaned with a suede brush to remove dirt and restore the nap. For stains, a specialized footbed cleaner can be used, applied sparingly. Allow to air dry completely away from direct heat.
- Sole (EVA): The EVA sole can be wiped clean with a damp cloth.
- General Care: Avoid prolonged exposure to extreme heat (like direct sunlight in a hot car) or direct water submersion, as this can damage the cork and adhesives. Store in a cool, dry place when not in use.
